Introduction

My name is Jacqueline Collier and I woke up with an idea to put this website together. It is a safe place for the disabled community to share their poems and be recognised for their talent.

I am certain that when we share our poems with each other, many of us will be able to deeply relate to the struggles others have felt. I hope that by sharing our poems together, we will feel heard, understood, and encouraged.

Whenever you read a poem on this website, please remember that people are writing about their individual lived experiences. Sometimes, because many of us have had negative experiences due to our disability, we might find someone else’s experiences triggering (we will try to add the necessary trigger warnings to posts). On the other hand, we might read poems that feel validating and comforting. So please browse through our collection of poems at your own discretion.

I am looking forward to reading through everyone’s submissions and sharing some great poems! I imagine that most submissions will come from Australia, but I would love to share poems from disabled people and carers from all across the world!

To end this post, I will share one of my original poems. It gives you a bit of insight about the medical journey I’ve had to go through. It’s called, “I’m Not On Good Terms,” and I hope you enjoy it.
