BY ELI SUTHERLAND
The horizon an eight ball of lies
strategically-minded and behind us now.
Sunrise an antagonistic Europa,
I mean Euphoria, I mean
[word that’s opposite of hell—
but not like heaven—the other thing].
I’ve heard Euphoria ft. Zendaya is pretty good
albeit dark for teenage sense and sensibilities.
Reading back through fourteen-year-old
journals, the pages ashen between
bin-lipped fireplace edges and the bright
peach of sunset is just the beginning, and you’d
be forgiven for thinking it’s age appropriate after all.
My t-shirt says Gander Euphoria in curved
typeface; an ouroboros chasing some sense
of a body I’ll never reach but
it’s just a duck getting thrown some bread.
The gander is actually in bed recovering
from top surgery—show us your tits, queen.
And by that I mean the red-breasted tits
living next door, bringing soup and
brushing your hair. [oh yeah, Utopia]
That’s behind us now, too.
